At Lake Hills Family Dentistry, we offer dental sealants as a simple and effective way to protect teeth, especially for children who are still developing strong brushing habits. Sealants are thin, protective coatings made from a safe, tooth-colored composite resin. They are applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, where deep grooves and pits naturally collect food and bacteria, increasing the risk of cavities. Once applied, the sealant creates a smooth surface over the tooth, shielding it from plaque buildup, food debris, and acids that can lead to tooth decay.

The procedure is quick and comfortable:

• The tooth is cleaned and dried.
• A bonding agent prepares the enamel.
• The sealant is brushed on and hardened with a special curing light.

With proper oral hygiene and routine checkups, sealants can last for several years. If necessary, we can reapply them to ensure ongoing protection. During your visits, we’ll check their condition and recommend reapplication as needed.
