Wisdom Teeth Removal

Relieve discomfort and prevent future dental issues.

Wisdom Teeth and Removal

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last adult teeth to emerge, typically between ages 17 and 25. For many people, these teeth don’t have enough room to grow in properly, which can lead to problems. Wisdom teeth may become impacted (stuck beneath the gums), grow in sideways, come in partially, or press against other teeth. These situations can lead to swelling, pain, infection, and difficulty cleaning the area, which increases the risk of cavities and gum disease.

While not all wisdom teeth need to be removed, extraction is often recommended to prevent future dental issues. Signs that removal may be necessary include jaw pain, inflammation, crowding, or signs of impaction visible on X-rays, even if symptoms haven’t yet started.

At Lake Hills Family Dentistry, we provide gentle, outpatient wisdom tooth removal with your comfort as our top priority. Before the procedure, we’ll review your health history and take X-rays. During treatment, the area is fully numbed, the tooth is carefully removed, and stitches may be placed to support healing. Most procedures take between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the number and complexity of the teeth being removed.
